On March 2012, Rontis Hellas former Medispes was able to close an agreement with Given Imaging, an Israeli company, for the exclusive representation and distribution in the Greek Market, of their complete product range of medical disposables and devices in capsule endoscopy.
Given Imaging revolutionized GI imaging and patient care with the invention of capsule endoscopy. The PillCam Platform is the recognized leader in the field of capsule endoscopy as evidenced by more than 1,200 peer-reviewed publications.
It is the only company that has developed a complete range of wireless capsules each dedicated to a specific area of the GI tract, in order to address the diagnosis of diseases affecting those areas, as esophagus, small bowel and colon. In addition it has also developed a unique capsule to check the patency of the bowel.
Given Imaging‘s most recent portfolio addition is the Bravo pH Monitoring System, a gold standard method for pH monitoring of gastric reflux.
Rontis Hellas distributes the following Given Imaging products.
PillCam ESO 2
Now in its second-generation, PillCam ESO is a high performance capsule with advanced optics and Automatic Light Control for optimal image quality and illumination. Published clinical data support the use of PillCam ESO for visualizing the esophagus.
PillCam ESO 2 video capsules measure 11mm x 26mm and weighs less than four grams. They contain an imaging device and light source at both ends of the video capsule and take up to 18 images per second as it passes down the esophagus.
PillCam ESO 2 provides a time-efficient and patient-friendly method for visualization of the esophagus.
PillCam COLON 2
PillCam COLON 2 capsule endoscopy offers a patient-friendly option for visualization of the colon mucosa.
This advanced imaging technology is complementary to traditional, therapeutic colonoscopy and may be an appropriate exam for those patients who are unwilling or unable to undergo traditional colonoscopy.
Advancements in the PillCam Platform with PillCam COLON 2 enables a smarter approach to colon capsule endoscopy and a patient-friendly option for visualization of the colon.
PillCam SB 2
The PillCam SB video capsule measures 11 mm x 26 mm and weighs less than 4 grams. It contains an imaging device and light-source on one-side and transmits images at a rate of 2 images per second generating more than 50,000 pictures over an 9-hour period.
The Company’s next generation small bowel video capsule, PillCam SB 2, was cleared for marketing by U.S. Food and Drug Administration in May 2007 and offers advanced optics and a wider field of view to image the small intestine.
Images are downloaded by the physician to the Given workstation for review and diagnosis. The proprietary RAPID software installed on the workstation contains an image atlas to help facilitate the analysis.
PillCam SB3
• More detail—redesigned and optimized optics deliver exceptional images of the mucosa and greater diagnostic confidence
• More coverage—adaptive frame rate technology allows the system to sense when the capsule is moving quickly and automatically increases the image capture rate from 2 to 6 frames per second
• More efficiency—the system’s significantly improved video processing engine enables even smarter video compilation, which can reduce the time you need to review and interpret your capsule endoscopy studies.
Agile Patency System
The Agile Patency System provides a simple and convenient means to verify functional patency of the GI tract in patients with known of suspected strictures prior to the administration of the PillCam SB or PillCam ESO video capsules.
The Agile patency capsule is a dissolvable capsule that approximates the size and shape of the PillCam SB and PillCam ESO video capsules.
Motility monitoring
Our ManoScan high resolution manometry (HRM) tools include ManoScan ESO for measurement of the pressure activity within the esophagus and ManoScan AR for evaluation of the function and coordination of both the rectum and anal sphincters.
Bravo pH Monitoring System
Given Imaging’s Bravo pH Monitoring System is the only catheter-free ambulatory pH test helping clinicians manage gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
Bravo pH Monitoring utilizes a small pH capsule that is temporarily attached to the wall of the esophagus to transmit pH data for a full 48 hours. Ambulatory pH testing is considered the gold standard for pH measurement and monitoring of gastric reflux.
Digitrapper pH-Z Monitoring
Digitrapper pH-Z monitoring is a catheter-based test using a combination of pH and impedance sensors for the identification of reflux at multiple locations, including the esophagus and pharynx. Data collected differentiates acid and non-acid reflux in patients with an array of symptoms.
With these measurements, doctors can evaluate the number of reflux events, the acid content of each event and how long each event lasted. This helpful information can also help doctors diagnose gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other disorders
